A Southfield-based real estate firm wants to develop vacant land in front of a Meijer store in Scio Township.

Versa Development submitted plans to the township to construct a building for two restaurants and a drive-thru coffee shop with frontage along Zeeb Road. The Meijer store is located at 5645 Jackson Road.

Versa is the same companyplanning to bring about 12 restaurants and retailers in a development in front of the Meijer store on Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Pittsfield Township. The township’s planning commission gave final site plan approval in March for that project, which includes six buildings on 6.4 acres of land.

Among the businesses expected to open in that project’s first phase: Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Eyeglass World, Sport Clips, Subway and Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

Versa’s plans for the Scio Township Meijer ou-tlot call to construct a 7,930-square-foot building on 1.53 acres fronting Zeeb Road.

There would be a 3,453-square-foot restaurant, a 2,572-square-foot restaurant and a 1,905-square-foot coffee shop with a drive-thru window. There are 69 parking spaces included in the plans.

The property is zoned C2, general commercial. Versa is seeking a conditional use permit to allow the property to be used as a mixed-use commercial project.

It’s unclear if Versa has secured tenants for the proposed out-lot building. A representative from the real estate firm could not be reached for comment Thursday.

There will be a public hearing for the project at the Scio Township Planning Commission meeting at 7 p.m. on April 14.
